'The Devil Wears Prada 2' Surpasses Original Film's Total Box Office in Record Time

The Devil Wears Prada 2 continues its remarkable box office momentum, achieving a major milestone in record-breaking fashion.

The sequel, which reunites Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, and Meryl Streep from the beloved 2006 original, earned $43 million domestically during its second weekend, complemented by $75.8 million from international markets. Combined with its opening weekend haul of over $77 million at home and a global debut of $233 million, the film has already surpassed the original's lifetime total of $326 million—unadjusted for inflation.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for Disney, which has now become the first major Hollywood studio to cross the $2 billion mark globally in 2026.

Audience retention remains strong, with the film dropping just 43% domestically and 46% internationally from its opening weekend. This modest decline suggests the sequel maintains considerable staying power in the weeks ahead.

Critical reception has been solid, with the film holding a 78% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes alongside an 86% audience score.

The sequel brings back the original's core cast alongside new additions including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. The film reunites the principals two decades after their iconic roles, returning to New York City and the offices of Runway Magazine.

The production carried a reported budget of $100 million.
