'The Paper' Season 2 Arrives September 9 on Peacock with Full Returning Cast

'The Paper' is heading back to Peacock this fall. The streaming service announced Thursday that Season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, September 9, with the full slate of episodes available to stream all at once.

The returning ensemble includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman, and Oscar Nuñez.

For the new season, the show's synopsis teases: "In season two, after sweeping the Ohio Journalism Awards, Ned searches for a journalistic crusade, coming for a local private club and jeopardizing the paper, while he and Mare try to figure out their attraction, Esmeralda struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually mature as reporters."

The series follows a mockumentary crew—the same team that documented Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch in 'The Office'—as they turn their cameras on a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher working to restore it to former glory.

First-look images from Season 2 were also shared alongside the premiere announcement.

Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott on the original series, will not return. When the show debuted, Carell explained his absence to THR: "I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It's just a new thing and there's really no reason for my character to show up in something like that."
