Daveigh Chase, Star of The Ring and Lilo & Stitch, Dead at 35

Daveigh Chase, the accomplished actress and voice actor who became a household name through her work in horror and animated films, has died at age 35.
Roy Hernandez, Chase's partner, shared the news with media outlets. According to reports, Chase passed away on Tuesday from meningitis combined with a blood infection that triggered septic complications and ultimately caused multiple organ failure.
Chase had been admitted to the hospital earlier in June for malnutrition, though additional details surrounding her hospitalization remain limited.
The performer's career spanned multiple entertainment mediums and left a lasting mark on audiences across generations. She gained widespread recognition for portraying Samara Morgan in The Ring, the horror film that became a cultural touchstone. Beyond live-action work, Chase lent her voice to beloved animated characters, including Lilo in Disney's Lilo & Stitch and Chihiro in the English-language adaptation of Spirited Away. She also appeared as Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko.
Her contributions to entertainment were recognized during her lifetime, including a Young Artist Award for her voice work in Lilo & Stitch.
