Sean Kaufman and Charles Melton in Talks to Join Matt Damon for The Daniels' Universal Film

Sean Kaufman, known for his role in The Summer I Turned Pretty, is in early discussions to headline an ensemble cast opposite Matt Damon in a forthcoming Universal picture.

The project comes from directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the creative force behind Everything Everywhere All At Once. According to reports, Sandra Oh has already signed on, alongside Charles Melton, who has appeared in Riverdale, Beef, and May December.

While Universal has remained quiet on casting specifics, Damon is set to anchor the film as its lead. The younger ensemble members, including Kaufman's character who will serve as the group's central figure, are expected to share equal prominence throughout the narrative.

The Daniels will shepherd the project through their production company, Playgrounds, in collaboration with producer Jonathan Wang. The filmmaking team maintains an overall deal with Universal.

The untitled feature is scheduled to arrive on November 19, 2027, though plot details and additional cast information remain under wraps.

Damon's summer is shaping up to be particularly active. His film The Odyssey hits theaters and IMAX screens on July 17, 2026, marking an A-list ensemble effort. As part of the promotional push, Damon recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he participated in a comedic sketch involving a giant Trojan horse.
