Hulu's The Testaments wrapped its debut season with major developments that tie directly back to the events of The Handmaid's Tale, including a pivotal return from Elisabeth Moss's June Osborne.

The spinoff centers on two young women navigating life at Aunt Lydia's prestigious school for future wives: the devout Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a newcomer whose compliance masks a dangerous secret. As the girls form a deep bond within the institution's oppressive walls, their connection becomes the spark that threatens to reshape everything they know.

Moss made her first appearance in episode three when details emerged about Daisy's background. Viewers learned that Daisy is actually an undercover Mayday operative who infiltrated Gilead society as part of the resistance movement. Raised in Toronto by parents who ran a vintage shop, Daisy's world shattered when she discovered them dead. June appeared to rescue her from Gilead agents attempting to kidnap her from a police station, revealing a stunning truth: Daisy was born in Gilead and smuggled to Canada as a child, where she was adopted and raised.

By the season finale, Mayday determined that Daisy's emotional attachments made her unsuitable for undercover work and arranged her extraction back to Canada. However, Daisy resisted, vowing instead to stay and fight, pledging to assemble a network of teenage girls to help dismantle Gilead from within.

During their final meeting, Daisy recounted the names and strengths of girls she'd befriended at school. When she mentioned Agnes, June's expression shifted—she realized this teenager was connected to her missing daughter.

"One of the best written moments in that scene, in my opinion, is where you get to see June hear it," Moss told THR. "It's always better to see on camera if the character has something happen to them, or if they realize something. We get to see her realize and discover where exactly Agnes is on camera. If we had gone with her being completely all-knowing, we would have been robbed at that moment. That moment is so moving when she realizes, and drops her tough exterior. She drops her composure, and you just see her as a mom."

She continued: "What we decided on was that she knows Hannah's Gilead name is Agnes MacKenzie. She has an idea of where she is, but I don't think she knew exactly where she was. She doesn't necessarily know Daisy knows her and is friends with her. In my opinion, she just has her suspicions. I think we have room to add or subtract how much she knew, but she doesn't have it 100 percent confirmed [until that moment]."

Hannah, June's daughter who was separated from her at the start of The Handmaid's Tale, spent six seasons as the object of June's desperate search. Now a teenager operating under the name Agnes, she has become central to The Testaments, initially serving as Daisy's guide at school.

The revelation comes to Agnes when Daisy discloses that her real mother is June Osborne—a name Agnes only recognizes as "the terrorist." Skeptical, Agnes begins to believe only when Daisy mentions her true name: Hannah. That detail unlocks something, prompting Agnes to retrieve a piece of childhood artwork from her room. At the bottom of the page, the name "Hannah" is written.

In the episode's closing moments, Agnes makes a bold declaration to Aunt Lydia: she is the daughter of June Osborne—a statement that carries profound implications for what comes next.
