Ticketmaster Cancels Thousands of Scalped Harry Styles Residency Tickets, Will Return Them to Fans at Face Value

April 21, 2026

Ticketmaster has moved against ticket scalpers targeting Harry Styles' upcoming residency at Madison Square Garden. In a statement released Wednesday, April 22, the platform revealed it had discovered and canceled "thousands of illegal tickets" obtained through fraudulent means, with plans to redistribute them to legitimate fans at the original price point.

According to Samuul Goba, Ticketmaster's President, scalpers deployed multiple accounts and false identities to bypass ticket purchase restrictions and acquire inventory for resale. The canceled tickets had not yet been transferred to any customers before the company took action. Ticketmaster is now coordinating with Styles and his team to make those tickets available again through standard channels.

"Scalpers often target the tickets that are the lowest price and/or super in-demand so they can flip them for the biggest markup," Goba explained in the statement. "This impacts many tours and has a huge negative impact on fans." The company noted that pricing for the recovered inventory remains competitive, with 19 percent of tickets priced at $50, 7 percent under $95, and the entire inventory under $130 when all fees are included.

Ticketmaster emphasized that the cancellation affects no legitimate purchasers. Fans who bought directly through Ticketmaster, received transferred tickets, or obtained resale tickets through the platform's official channels remain unaffected. The action also does not impact attendees of shows outside New York City.

"We stop most scalpers before they ever buy tickets, and we catch more before those tickets can be resold," Goba stated. "But fraud evolves, and so do we." He noted his background in fintech and commitment to continued improvements in fraud detection within the ticketing industry.

Styles' "Together, Together" residency, promoted by Live Nation, spans seven cities with 50 total performances. The run takes place across Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York, Melbourne, and Sydney between May and December.
