Tim Tebow Announces Father's Passing After Parkinson's Battle
Tim Tebow took to Instagram on Friday to share the passing of his father, Bob, who was 78 years old. The former NFL quarterback's dad succumbed to Parkinson's disease after an extended battle with the condition.
In his emotional tribute, the 38-year-old athlete wrote about his father's spiritual journey and unwavering faith. "Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home!" Tebow began. "Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he's not lost, we know exactly where he is. He's home. Forever!"
Tebow went on to share a recent conversation with his father about what awaited him in the afterlife. "I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, 'Jesus,'" he recalled. "He couldn't wait to see Jesus face to face. Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He's healed and whole now."
The post concluded with Tebow expressing his faith during this time of loss. "So we don't mourn as those with no hope," he wrote. "See you soon Dad!"
Alongside his message, Tebow shared a series of photographs documenting his father throughout the years.
The elder Tebow's Parkinson's diagnosis had been public knowledge since 2016, when the athlete discussed it with People magazine. At that time, Tebow reflected on how his father's health struggles had prompted him to reassess what truly mattered in life. "I love being around him," he shared. "We watch ball, talk ball. But I also go to him for advice about spiritual questions. There are times where he sees something from a different place than I do."
