Tina Fey is making one thing crystal clear: the Mean Girls universe isn't expanding further.

The 55-year-old writer and performer, who created both the film adaptations and the Tony-nominated stage musical, addressed the franchise's future during an appearance at HISTORYTalks in Philadelphia on April 18th.

"I promise there are no more iterations coming," Fey quipped when discussing what lies ahead for the beloved comedy property.

During her remarks, Fey reflected on the creative philosophy guiding each version of Mean Girls. "We always, in every iteration, tried to honor the source material, which is like a sociology book about how to help girls through relational aggression and behaviors like that," she explained. "It's like, yes, everyone loves the Plastics. They have the best outfits. We don't want to emulate them, ultimately. We want to pay attention to the fact that their behavior does take them down."

The announcement comes roughly two years after reports surfaced suggesting that Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams—the original film's stars—might be open to reuniting for a sequel project.

On the television front, Fey has fresh content on the horizon. Her Netflix series Four Seasons is preparing to launch its second season later this month.
