Tom Hanks Cheers On Rita Wilson at 'Celebrity Autobiography' Broadway Debut

Rita Wilson has officially launched her latest Broadway venture, with her husband Tom Hanks on hand to celebrate the milestone.
Hanks walked the red carpet Monday evening (May 18) for the opening night of the comedy play Celebrity Autobiography at the Shubert Theatre in Manhattan. Wilson, who serves as lead producer on the project, also took the stage as part of the opening night ensemble, joining Gayle King, Nia Vardalos, Andrea Martin, Bobby Moynihan, and Kenan Thompson among others.
The show, which rotates its cast with each performance, will continue its run through August 16.
Celebrity Autobiography brings an international comedy hit to Broadway, featuring a constantly-evolving roster of celebrities from television, film, theater, sports, and politics who perform readings from one another's autobiographies. The New York Times has called it "A merry compendium of the witlessness of the rich and famous," with audiences responding enthusiastically to the concept.
Beyond solo passages, the production weaves together excerpts from multiple memoirs to craft ensemble sequences that build into comedic "mash ups." These segments create rapid-fire "he said, she said" exchanges, explore famous love triangles, and showcase contrasting perspectives on shared experiences.
Bryan Cranston and his wife Robin Dearden were also among the guests celebrating the opening night.
