Tom Holland Breaks One Marvel Rule: Spilling the Robert Downey Jr. News to Zendaya

Tom Holland has built quite the reputation for letting Marvel spoilers slip, but when it came to one major franchise bombshell, he found the one person he absolutely had to tell: his wife Zendaya.

The Spider-Man actor learned that Robert Downey Jr. was making a comeback to the superhero universe as Doctor Doom before the official studio announcement. Rather than keep it to himself, Holland spilled the beans to Zendaya the moment he got off the phone with Downey.

"Right after he got off the phone with the Iron Man actor, Tom told Zendaya, 'Downey is coming back,'" Holland explained during an interview with Cinemania, as reported by Variety.

Holland elaborated on how the information reached him, noting that he and Downey maintain casual contact. "Robert and I just have casual catch-ups every now and then. He called and told me. It's really exciting," Holland shared. He acknowledged his well-documented tendency to leak details, suggesting the studio has taken precautions. "I have a reputation for spoiling certain things and I think the studio is keeping me from the juicy details when I do get to grace that set."

Despite being largely in the dark about the broader plans, Holland expressed genuine curiosity about what the development means for his character. "I am so curious what does that mean for Peter Parker and how does that work. It's really cool. I am really excited about whatever it is they are doing," he said.

The revelation comes as Holland and Zendaya have publicly confirmed their relationship, having recently married.
