Beloved Voice Actor Tom Kane Dies at 64

Prolific voice actor Tom Kane has died at age 64, his representative Zach McGinnis announced Monday, May 18.
Kane's extensive career spanned animation, television, and video games. He earned particular recognition for voicing Professor Utonium and HIM in The Powerpuff Girls, and for bringing Yoda to life in the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and subsequent series. His other notable credits included the character Woodhouse in Archer, plus work on video game titles such as Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Ghost of Tsushima. He also provided narration for the documentary JFK Assassination: Declassified Theories.
In a statement, McGinnis said: "Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever. But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering."
The cause and location of Kane's death have not been disclosed.
In December 2020, Kane suffered a stroke that affected his ability to speak. E.G. Daily, who voiced Buttercup on The Powerpuff Girls, shared an update on the voice cast's reunion with him that month, writing: "In December 2020, our Powerpuff Girls father, Professor Utonium—Tom Kane—suffered a stroke that left him unable to speak. We're so grateful to see him again and to witness his recovery. We love you, Tom xx EG, Tara, and Cathrine #FYP #Blossom #Buttercup and #bubbles."
