Tove Lo Unveils New Album 'ESTRUS' With Lead Single and Extensive Tour Dates

Tove Lo is launching a new creative chapter with the announcement of her sixth studio album, ESTRUS, set to arrive September 18 through Pretty Swede Records. The 38-year-old artist, known for hits like "Habits (Stay High)," has already made the project available for pre-order across multiple formats.

The album title carries deeper meaning—ESTRUS refers to the reproductive cycle of female mammals. Lo describes the project as exploring primal territory that balances competing desires and emotions. "It's my mind and my body wanting different things, wanting everything," she explained. "There's no good advice on this album… just a lot of feelings, no solutions."

Recorded in Los Angeles, Stockholm, and a small Swedish fishing village where Lo spent childhood summers, the album marks a return to formative spaces. That same village provided creative inspiration for her previous project, Dirt Femme. Lo notes that revisiting the location reconnected her with memories of youth, struggle, and personal challenges—depression, eating disorders, breakups, and family loss all surfacing through the work.

The electro-pop record features production from longtime collaborator Ludvig Söderberg, alongside Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser, with an additional collaboration featuring Belgian artist Stromae. The sonic palette draws from influences including The Knife, Robyn, and the Swedish indie dance music of Lo's formative years.

The lead single, "I'm your girl right?," dropped alongside a visually ambitious music video helmed by director Nogari, who previously collaborated with Lo on the 2023 "Borderline" video. The production took place outside São Paulo in a converted monastery and featured over 70 dancers. Lo praised the creative partnership: "We shot this video in Brazil and I think it turned out so stunning. The best crew ever."

Lo is bringing the album to stages worldwide with the ESTRUS Tour commencing September 15 in Nashville. The North American leg opens with six release shows in September, featuring support from Mallrat and Cobrah (New York only). The UK and EU portion launches in November with Rose Gray as support, marking Lo's most extensive European tour to date.

North American presale tickets become available May 18 at 1 p.m. local time through tove-lo.com, with American Express cardholders receiving early access beginning at 9 a.m. that same day. The UK/EU presale opens May 18 at 10 a.m. local time. General public tickets go on sale May 20 at 10 a.m. local time.

Tour stops include venues across North America and Europe, with additional dates to be announced. Lo expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming performances: "I'm gonna make this very special… Can't wait to be absolutely unhinged together again."

The 14-track album includes songs such as "if I could I would," "des fleurs x stromae," "die for my art with a lonely heart," and "roomie," among others.
