Lara Trump Shares Details About Recent Message From President Donald Trump
Lara Trump, wife of the president's son Eric, recently opened up about her relationship with Donald Trump during an appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast on April 21.
When discussing how frequently the 79-year-old Republican stays in touch with family members, Lara described him as someone who makes a point to check in regularly. "He loves a good late-night random call, early morning chit-chat," she told host Katie Miller, characterizing him as the family member "most likely to call just to check in."
The conversation shifted when Miller asked Lara about the most recent text message she had received from the president. Her response caught attention as she described receiving a video that originated from the White House. "I think it was a video that the White House put out, and it just said, 'Love, DJT.' It was like a video of some, like, bombing," Lara explained, noting that Donald was "proud of it." She characterized the content as "good" and seemingly pro-American in nature. The specific video Lara referenced has not been identified.
Beyond discussing their personal communications, Lara used the platform to address broader perceptions of her father-in-law. She emphasized the considerable personal cost of his political career, stating, "I just wish people would appreciate, especially people on the other side of the aisle, how much easier his life would have been if he'd never gotten involved in politics."
She highlighted that Trump left the White House with less wealth than when he entered it, and pointed to legal and business challenges his family has faced. "They've gone after his businesses, they've gone after his family, his life prior to politics," she said.
Lara characterized the president as "an incredibly genuine, good-hearted person, and he's doing what he thinks is right." She recalled a conversation from before his 2015 announcement to run for office, saying Trump told the family, "If I do this, I'm going to do it the right way. And if it means I only get one term in office, then that's okay with me."
The comments come as the president has intensified disputes with former political allies who have publicly criticized his recent decisions since returning to office. Some former supporters have expressed regret about their involvement in his election, while Trump has maintained an active presence on social media with various statements. His recent activities have included ongoing tensions related to Iran, punctuated by announcements regarding ceasefire agreement continuations.
