King Charles and Queen Camilla Attend White House State Dinner with the Trumps
The British royal couple made their appearance at a high-profile state dinner in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday night, April 28, as President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed them to the White House during the second day of their U.S. visit.
King Charles and Queen Camilla posed for photographs alongside the Trumps on the White House grounds, marking a significant moment in the formal proceedings.
Queen Camilla selected a gown designed by Fiona Clare for the evening, which she paired with an amethyst and diamond necklace from the royal collection. The piece carries considerable historical significance—it was originally presented to Queen Victoria before being passed to Queen Mary. This marked the first public outing for the historic necklace. Notably, Camilla chose to forgo a tiara, a departure from tradition that contrasted with Queen Elizabeth's decision to wear one during her final state visit to the U.S. in 2007.
First Lady Melania Trump wore a pink Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, accessorized with coordinating Dior gloves.
The day's festivities also featured a red coat military display held on the White House grounds as a tribute to the visiting British royals.
