Trump Attacks Lauren Boebert as "Weak Minded," Threatens Primary Challenge Over Massie Support

President Trump has publicly broken with Rep. Lauren Boebert, a longtime conservative ally, after she backed one of his political adversaries seeking reelection.
Over the weekend, the 79-year-old president used Truth Social to target Boebert, a House Republican who has long championed MAGA causes. Trump vowed to recruit a primary challenger against her following her appearance in Kentucky supporting Rep. Thomas Massie, with whom the president has clashed on multiple occasions, including disagreements over the Epstein files.
In his posts, Trump also named Kentucky Senator Rand Paul alongside Boebert, describing both as "very difficult, and highly unreasonable, Republican Votes." He characterized Massie as "a disloyal, ungracious, and sanctimonious FOOL, who almost never votes for even the best of Republican Values," noting that the congressman represents what he called "the Worst 'Republican' Congressman in the History of our Party."
Trump threw his backing behind Massie's opponent, Ed Gallrein, whom he praised as "loyal, and MAGA all the way." He concluded his initial message with a call to voters: "VOTE FOR ED GALLREIN, AND WIPE AWAY THE STENCH OF ONE OF THE WORST CONGRESSMEN IN THE HISTORY OF OUR GREAT PARTY, THOMAS MASSIE."
In a follow-up post, Trump escalated his attack on Boebert, who represents Colorado. He questioned whether anyone would be interested in running against her in Colorado's Fourth Congressional District, pointing out that she had relocated to that district after struggles in her original seat. "Anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!" he wrote, referencing her decision to support Massie.
Trump indicated he would be willing to withdraw his previous endorsement of Boebert if an alternative candidate emerged. "Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement, and endorse a good and proper alternative," he stated.
Rather than backing down, the 39-year-old Boebert responded with a series of posts on X. She acknowledged seeing Trump's messages but expressed no regret about her position. "I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie," she wrote. "I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA."
In another message, Boebert shared photos of herself with both Massie and Trump, writing that she considers both men friends and has worked with each to advance freedom and liberty. "I support both of these men," she stated. "And if that makes you angry, bless your heart."
