Josh Dun Opens Up About Life as a New Dad and Debby Ryan's Home Birth

Josh Dun is reflecting on fatherhood and celebrating his wife's strength following the arrival of their daughter.

The 37-year-old drummer and 33-year-old actress Debby Ryan welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Felix, last December. Speaking at the 2026 American Music Awards this week, Dun offered an intimate look at their recent milestone.

"My wife is awesome," he told E! News. "She gave birth in our bedroom. And we have a five-and-a-half-month-old who's also great. She flew out here yesterday and did great. It's a lot of fun."

The experience of witnessing a home birth has given Dun profound perspective on motherhood. "I think, for me, I understood what women go through to give birth, and it's intense," he explained. "A lot more respect for all moms out there. I will say that it's no joke."

He continued to express his sense of wonder at the experience: "It's amazing, it's magical and awesome watching life come into the world."

Since becoming a father, Dun has found the experience of watching his daughter develop to be unlike anything he's experienced before. "So, I just had a dog, and dogs are great, but I think having a little human and watching her brain start to like develop and become more aware and aware of me is just a feeling that I've never had before," he shared. "It's unbelievable."

The musician, who has been married to Ryan for seven years, was full of praise for his partner's transition to motherhood. According to Dun, Debby is "crushing it" as a mom.
