Tyla Unveils Second Studio Album 'A*POP' With July Release Date
Tyla is making her official return with the announcement of her second studio album.
The 24-year-old artist, known for her breakthrough hit "Water," has revealed that her new project is titled A*POP and will drop on July 24. The album features her breakthrough track "Chanel" alongside a fresh collaboration with Zara Larsson called "She Did It Again."
An album trailer accompanying the announcement showcases Tyla's evolving artistry, highlighting what she describes as an "unapologetic," "confident," and "global" sonic direction for the forthcoming record.
Speaking with Rolling Stone about the creative process, Tyla reflected on how her approach has shifted since her debut. "I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so… Tyla," she explained.
She elaborated on the contrast between then and now: "I feel like the first album, it was very hectic, it was a rush. It was like, all of a sudden, overnight craziness. So now that I'm settled in, I feel like I know more about my direction and what I want to do, what I want to say."
Beyond the album's release, Tyla has a busy summer ahead. She will headline her own performance at The TODAY Show's Citi Concert Series and is set to perform at multiple international festivals, including Afronation in Portugal, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Beach Please! in Romania, and Hellwatt Festival in Italy.
