Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Film Action-Packed Sequences for Sci-Fi Thriller in Brooklyn

Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II were photographed on set in Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 26, as production continued on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Liminal. The pair of co-stars appeared to be filming several high-octane action sequences across multiple takes.

Kirby, 38, donned a black bodysuit for the shoot and was captured running through various scenes with intensity. One moment showed her character seemingly positioned atop another performer following what appeared to be a tackle. Abdul-Mateen II, 39, wore a gray jacket layered over red outerwear with brown trousers, dark sunglasses, and a substantial backpack. Footage from the set also suggested his character was holding Kirby's character during an intense physical exchange.

Liminal draws from the graphic novel Telepaths, created by J. Michael Straczynski, Steve Epting, and Brian Reber. The narrative centers on a world where ten percent of the population suddenly develops telepathic abilities following an electromagnetic event. Boston police officers who gain these newfound powers must confront a group of escapees, spearheaded by an imprisoned man wrongly convicted, who seek to evade a reality where their abilities would make them vulnerable.

Apple Studios is producing the film with Louis Leterrier helming the project and Justin Rhodes penning the screenplay. No official premiere date has been confirmed at this time.

Beyond Liminal, Kirby has several major theatrical releases ahead. She will return as Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release on December 19.
