Vanilla Ice is staying the course with his Freedom 250 appearance this summer, remaining committed to the concert even as most of the announced performers have pulled out.

The Freedom 250 celebration, unveiled by Donald Trump last year, aims to mark the nation's 250th birthday as a "national, non-partisan organization leading the celebration of our Nation's 250th birthday." The Trump administration-backed event commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence signing and America's independence from Britain.

The event organizers revealed the full performer roster on Wednesday, May 27, for the 16-day festivities. However, shortly after the announcement, many of the listed acts began withdrawing, with performers indicating that the concert differs from what they initially understood it to be.

Despite the exodus, Vanilla Ice has publicly doubled down on his participation. The artist, who says he has never voted, emphasized that he would have accepted an invitation to perform regardless of which administration extended it.

"Happy birthday America 250 years. It's gonna be an epic party. This is to bring us all together. I'm tired of all the news channels dividing this country. We are all one. This is not a political platform. This is celebrating America's birthday. Nothing too serious just enjoying some fun, dancing and great memories. Hope you guys can join us," Vanilla Ice wrote in a video caption.

He elaborated further in a follow-up comment, explaining his philosophy on entertainment and politics. "Yeah, if Joe Biden calls and says hey, I want you to play for my daughter's wedding. I'm going to play. There are fans everywhere. Music has no political rules. We are just entertainers. I don't vote and I never have and I always try to bring people together. We are all one. Positivity is the best hope for everything. Love is the answer."

The June 25 concert marks a notable moment as the entertainment world navigates the Freedom 250 initiative amid shifting performer commitments.
