Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson Heat Up 'Verity' Trailer With Intense, Bloody Kiss
Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson are turning up the temperature in the debut teaser for their forthcoming psychological thriller Verity.
The film marks another big-screen adaptation of bestselling author Colleen Hoover's work. The seductive tale centers on Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a writer facing financial struggles who takes on a ghostwriting assignment at the secluded Crawford estate. Her job: complete the work of renowned author Verity Crawford (Hathaway). Things take a dark turn when Lowen discovers what seems to be Verity's personal, deeply disturbing autobiographical writings. The confessions—which touch on Verity's husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett)—leave Lowen questioning what's real, what's manipulation, and where attraction ends and obsession begins.
The teaser delivers a striking moment featuring Dakota locked in a passionate kiss with Josh. The scene shifts, and suddenly Anne is the one sharing the embrace with Dakota, with the encounter culminating in a fierce bite that draws blood.
Rounding out the cast are Ismael Cruz Cordova and Brady Wagner. Michael Showalter directed the film, while Nick Antosca both wrote the screenplay and contributed to producing duties.
The movie arrives in theaters on October 2. The trailer will premiere ahead of Anne's upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2, which releases this weekend.
