Vogue Exec Details How Sabrina Carpenter Signed On to Perform at Met Gala 2026

The planning behind Sabrina Carpenter's performance at this year's Met Gala stretched back months before the event took place.
Sergio Kletnoy, entertainment director at Vogue Magazine, recently shared behind-the-scenes details about how the collaboration came together. The conversation that sparked it all happened on December 16, 2025, when Carpenter met with Kletnoy for lunch at Bar Pitti in Manhattan. While observers at the time speculated the meeting might involve a magazine cover, the pair were actually laying groundwork for the gala performance.
Kletnoy posted about the genesis of the performance on Instagram Friday, May 8, sharing a collection of images from the event. Among the photos was a paparazzi shot captured outside Bar Pitti that December day.
"Forever grateful to Sabrina & Stevie for this magical, spellbinding and bewitching evening. (And Bar Piti where it all began back in December ?!)" Kletnoy wrote in the caption.
The performance itself featured Carpenter running through several of her solo hits before joining rock icon Stevie Nicks for a rendition of "Landslide." The evening also included an exclusive after-party that followed the main event.
