Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson Reunite on Netflix After Knowing Each Other Since High School

The stars of Netflix's breakout hit Voicemails for Isabelle have a backstory that goes back much further than their current project.

Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson, both 31 years old, attended high school together, a connection they celebrated during a Netflix Q&A. "I have loved Nick, for what, 17 years? I was just so excited to finally get to work with you because I'd been trying for so many years," Deutch shared.

Robinson echoed the sentiment, reflecting on watching Deutch's career trajectory over the years. "I was also really excited because we've known each other since high school. Honestly, it's been really cool to watch you from afar and just see how you level up, and level up, and level up," he said.

The pair's playful banter took a humorous turn when Robinson joked about the nature of their long-distance admiration. "Like exactly like this movie. I've been stalking you since junior year in high school. I'm just so grateful that you allowed me to be part of this journey and I'm a fan for life," he quipped.

During an Entertainment Tonight interview, the two got candid about what they actually thought of each other back then. Deutch revealed she had romantic feelings for Robinson at the time, which led to her teasing him. "I had a crush on him, so I was mean to him, which was my like sort of go-to then… I was like, 'You're cute, so let me be like poke at you,'" she explained.

Robinson, for his part, found Deutch to be someone who stood out. "I think I found you intimidating. I found you forward, really cool," he recalled.

The chemistry between the two appears to have translated well to the screen, as Voicemails for Isabelle has become Netflix's top-performing film.
