Instagram Rolls Out Multi-Caption Feature for Carousel Posts

Instagram is expanding its storytelling toolkit with the introduction of a feature that lets users craft unique captions for each image or video in a carousel post.
The platform's new multi-caption functionality aims to give creators greater flexibility when sharing slideshow content. Rather than relying on a single caption for an entire carousel, users can now provide context and commentary that corresponds to individual photos or videos as viewers swipe through.
According to an in-app notification, the feature works straightforwardly: "A new caption with every swipe. You can now add a caption for each photo or video in your post."
How to use the feature
When uploading multiple photos or videos to create a carousel post on your Instagram feed, you'll spot a toggle option to activate multiple captions. Once you enable this "multiple captions" setting, you gain the ability to write a distinct caption accompanying each piece of content in your carousel.
The rollout represents Instagram's latest push to deepen engagement through enhanced creative tools. Earlier in 2026, the platform tested a "secret friends only" option that briefly gained traction among celebrity users before being discontinued.
