Kyle Busch, one of NASCAR's most celebrated drivers, has died at the age of 41. The racing world announced his passing on Thursday, May 21, through a joint statement released by Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR.

Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, whom he has been married to for more than 15 years, as well as their two children together: son Brexton and daughter Lennix.

The joint statement from the racing organizations expressed profound grief over the loss. "Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch," the statement read. "A future Hall of Famer, Kyle was a rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation. He was fierce, he was passionate, he was immensely skilled and he cared deeply about the sport and fans."

The statement highlighted Busch's remarkable two-decade career, noting his record-setting achievements in national series wins, his championships at NASCAR's highest level, and his work developing the next generation of drivers through his ownership in the Truck Series. His competitive spirit and sharp wit cultivated a devoted fan base known as "Rowdy Nation."

"Our thoughts are with Samantha, Brexton and Lennix, Kyle and Samantha's parents, Kurt and all of Kyle's family, Richard and Judy Childress, everyone at Richard Childress Racing, his teammates, friends and fans," the statement continued. "NASCAR lost a giant of the sport today, far too soon."

The racing community requested privacy for the family during this time while asking fans and colleagues to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

Just weeks before his passing, Busch shared a touching tribute on social media for Mother's Day. "My girls deserve the spotlight today," he wrote, addressing his wife and mother. "Happy Mother's Day to Samantha and my Mom! Thank You both for the love, patience, strength, and everything you pour into our family every single day! And Happy Birthday to our crazy Lennix. You keep us laughing, keep us on our toes, and somehow make every day brighter at the same time. I'm lucky to do life with you girls. Love you all more than you know!!"

Busch married Samantha Sarcinella on December 31, 2010, in Chicago. The couple's wedding was featured in a one-hour special called "Fast and Fabulous: a NASCAR Wedding" on Style. They welcomed Brexton in 2015 and Lennix in 2022.

His final public appearance took place just days before his death.
