American Idol Season 24 Narrows to Top 5 After April 27 Elimination

The competition intensified on American Idol as the field narrowed further on Monday night. Two hopefuls were sent packing during the April 27 episode, leaving five contestants standing heading into the penultimate stretch of season 24.

The Top 7 took the stage for the evening's performances, tackling tracks from Taylor Swift's catalog alongside songs celebrating California artists. The special programming was part of a collaboration with Visit California tourism.

Viewers cast their votes throughout the broadcast, and when the results were revealed, two performers found themselves eliminated from the competition. The remaining five will advance to the May 4 episode as the show barrels toward its finale.

American Idol airs Monday nights at 8/7c on ABC. The upcoming May 4 episode will welcome back two beloved former judges to the panel.
